Read the docs, then read the source

Docs are a map. They’re great for orienting yourself, but maps leave things out. When behavior surprises you, the source is the territory — and reading it is a skill worth practicing deliberately.

You don’t need to understand every line. You need to find the one function that explains the surprise.
